Cable Craig is Craig Whelbourne, a self-employed ethernet, data and TV cabling installer based in Nottingham (NG3), covering Nottinghamshire and further by arrangement. That's me. I have an extensive background in construction, and from there I went into cabling with Virgin Media, spending years running coax and ethernet into people's houses and fixing faults. Now I do ethernet, network and TV cabling for homes and small businesses on my own account.
At some point it clicked that the two jobs are the same job. Getting a cable from the front room to the back bedroom neatly isn't really an internet problem, it's a building problem. Knowing where the joists are, what the wall is made of and which brick course to follow is the building side of the job. So I went self-employed and put the two together. Between Virgin Media and working for myself, that's more than ten years putting ethernet and TV cable into houses.
I work for homes and small businesses, I start from a Virgin Media Hub or an Openreach master socket, I bring my own tools and my own transport, and the price is agreed over WhatsApp before I start. It's me on the ladder, not somebody I've sent.

I know how houses are built.
So I know where a cable can go and where it can't before I lift a floorboard or drill a wall, and the run ends up somewhere you don't notice it.

I put other people's installs right.
A cable that runs at a fifth of the speed it should, coax draped where it shouldn't be, a cabinet nobody can read. I test what's there before I replace anything, so you pay once.
- It's me. Not a subcontractor. The person you message is the person on the ladder.
- I quote before I start. One customer wrote "After coming to quote me for the work yesterday", and that's the usual order of things.
- I turn up when I say. "On time, organised", "arrived promptly" and "came same day" are customers' words, not mine.
- I turn up in my own van with the ladders and everything I need in the back: SDS drill, cable tester, a reel stand for the black outside cable, and boxes of faceplates, back boxes, clips, grommets, patch leads and dust sheets.
- I label the sockets by hand, I test every port, and I clear up. Clean and tidy comes up in about half the reviews and I'd like to keep it that way.
- I come back if something's not right. When two NHS workers' laptops wouldn't connect through their new garden pod cable, I was back an hour later to check it through.
- I talk to you like a person. WhatsApp me a photo and you'll get an answer, not a ticket number. If the job's not worth doing, I'll say. If it's your provider's fault, I'll say that too.

What I'm known for
Ethernet. If there's one thing people in Nottingham message me about over anything else, it's a wired socket that works first time and looks like it was always there. The garden offices, the consoles, the TV mounts and the Sky extensions all hang off the same skill: getting a cable somewhere neatly.
I also do a fair amount of putting right what somebody else did. Not because I enjoy it, but because I've seen from the Virgin Media side what a bad install costs people over the years, and I'd rather you paid once.
As evidence, not policy
Craig came out at short notice to fit an external ethernet cable to our garden pod. He was on time, organised and sorted everything out even clearing up after himself.
We work for NHS so had some problems getting our laptops to connect via the new ethernet cable, but Craig highlight start popped back an hour later highlight end to check everything had got sorted.

After being let down by several engineers we tried Craig who replied swiftly, arrived promptly and brought with him the tools needed. Craig sucessfully finished the set up and installation of my new tv which was much appreciated after the inefficiency of previous engineers. Craig was plesant, polite and professional throughout with extreamly resonable charges. Very pleased with the service and would recommend.
Craig came today to tidy up my wiring and move my Internet connection/sockets. lovely chap. clean and tidy job. wouldn't hesitate to recommend. thanks Cable Craig!!
I would definitely recommend Craig, I was having trouble with a cable that was recently fitted to my upstairs office by another engineer. I was only getting 97mbps when I'm supposed to be getting 500mbps so something wasn't right. I contacted Craig and he fitted me in the next day. He Replaced the cable and boxes, as this wasn't fit for what I needed it for and he couldn't of been more helpful. Don't make my mistake and pay twice, go to someone who is trusted. I'm now somehow

Fantastic service after nearly 2 years of slow internet and numerous sky engineers in my home head scratching Craig has come today and sorted out the problem . Two happy kids who are not driving us mad moaning they are lagging !
